Elizabeth is excited to announce an upcoming group class! Advice From a Loving Bitch, a user-friendly, humor-based, therapeutic program that assists groups in undoing lifelong patterns of self-hatred as a path to finding lasting self-esteem. Elizabeth is a licensed facilitator of this powerful work and looks forward to sharing this work with others.
I am looking for participants to join me as I facilitate a 9 week process with 3 participants, using the Advice from a Loving Bitch Curriculum by Rythea Lee. This curriculum works in conjunction with a set of YouTube videos from the Advice from a Loving Bitch YouTube show. Each episode covers a different topic related to healing self-hatred and introduces a step-by-step protocol to transform self-criticism at a very core level. The purpose of this curriculum is to help every person engage with their inner child and learn how to become a loving adult. This is a group for anyone on the healing path. I hope you will join my group and explore this process with me!
As a participant, you will be meeting weekly with a committed group for 9 weeks from June 7 to August 2, 2021 covering 9 episodes total (1 episode a week) while being supported by me, the Facilitator, fellow participants, and an online MeWe community forum with other groups that will give you space to share about your process, outputs, questions, etc.
The MeWe group for our program will be a place to connect with other AFLB groups around the country who are doing the same thing at the same time. Rythea Lee will be monitoring and giving input on these groups to help us all feel connected, answer questions, and give feedback. This will be a place to share writing, drawing, videos, photos, poems, or anything else related to the material we are covering.
If you are now or have recently been in a mental health or logistical crisis, please talk to me about this to see if this group is appropriate for you, as it goes deep into emotional processes.
If this program sounds like it may be a good fit for you, please respond to this email and let me know you are interested. I can't wait to start working together!
Highlights:
9 week live class on Mondays from 3:30 - 5:00 pm AKDT (7:30 - 9:00 pm EDT)
Cost: $235 + $45 for the curriculum. Cost includes one time fee to join the AFLB Membership

The Advice from a Loving Bitch Curriculum:
From Rythea Lee: "When I made my 20-episode Youtube show, Advice from a Loving Bitch, I had no idea what a deep heart chord it would hit for other people. I got emails, texts, and phone calls from folks who were following along from episode to episode, trying out the exercises in order to transform their self-hatred into something they could manage and grapple with consciously. The feedback inspired me to make all 20 episodes on topics such as contacting the Inner Child, creativity, emotional release, and childhood trauma. Several educators took my show, shared it with students, and found it had power and leverage to create real internal change. SO, I made the Advice from a Loving Bitch Curriculum so that people can go even deeper; have a manual with behind-the-scenes information, theory, assignments, and a structure to follow when leading groups with the video content. Here it is and I could not be more excited."

TESTIMONIALS FOR CURRICULUM:
"Working with the material in Advice from a Loving Bitch in a classroom setting set a powerful, safe and transformative tone for the group. Rythea’s presence in the show models vulnerability, dynamism and permission to be a beautiful and messy human! Using the show in our group inspired us all to take risks and open up in ways that were deeply healing for all of us. Thank you, Rythea, for sharing this material with our students and with the world!"
-Jessica Prodis, Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School, Holyoke, MA.
"I cannot sing enough praises for Rythea Lee's Advice from a Loving Bitch curriculum, which I used for my upper level graduate class in mental health counseling at Westfield State University. Rythea's capacity to authentically share her personal experiences around difficult topics (from self-hate to trauma to oppression and social justice) and to pose challenging self-reflective questions is unparalleled. Her curriculum provided a framework for students to access deeper awareness of, and tools to work with, their patterns, emotional landscapes, and "self-hating voices". Students reported that the curriculum led to both insight into, as well as changes in, their lifelong patterns of relating to self and other, moving towards greater self- compassion, confidence, and deep healing, as well as heightened capacity to hold space for and journey with their own clients. Bravo!"
-Rebecca A. Burwell, Ph.D., Westfield State University
"I used this curriculum with graduate students at Westfield as part of their studies to become Mental Health Counselors. Many students said that watching Advice from a Loving Bitch and answering the reflective questions was one of the most transformational parts of the course. The curriculum supported them in deeply getting to know their inner worlds, resulting in greater acceptance, self-love and self-knowledge. It was essential for them to explore this terrain in order to support others in doing the same in the future. Rythea shares her content with humor, depth and heart. Every student connected to her and her story. Many students said the process changed their lives. The curriculum also supported us in bringing in social change curriculum."
-Michelle Huber, teacher at Hartsbrook School in Western MA

Hi, I’m Elizabeth, I’m a loving bitch! I’m loving because I have to be! Life is far too bleak without love. I’m a bitch because I’ve developed some serious protective armor over the years; I have ripped a lot of it off, but one never forgets the weight of their armor, or how to build it. I am so excited to share the Advice From a Loving Bitch Curriculum by Rythea Lee with others!
As a young adult I struggled with suicidal ideation and finding my voice. I plunged into work and social life, and some risky behaviors and substance abuse. Something told me healing and growth were possible. I tried to find mental health supports but struggled to know how. Life kept coming and years blurred with highs and lows darkened by overwhelming self-hatred. I was drawn to reading about health and mental health, but it played out in a haphazard, aimless way. I still struggled to find lasting support.
I began dating my partner in 2012, he was a close friend of my late brother, Jason. Jason struggled with self hatred, mental health, and substance abuse. Jason and I were very close, we lived together most of his life. 2015 ended in tragedy; with a fatal snow-machining accident. (Snowmobile for non-Alaskans.) I was in complete shock. Love from friends, family, and my brother surrounded and carried me through 2016, the year my partner and I married, and had our first child.
The transformation to motherhood was also shocking. To say the least, it opened me up in ways I didn’t know existed. By 6 months postpartum the self hatred was stronger than ever. My old ways of coping were too weak and my old ways of escape were not an option. I had to get help. Around 1 year postpartum I was finally feeling better more consistently, had found some good supports, and was surprised with the pregnancy of our second child!
After our second child was born in 2018 I was again met with the self hatred but this time I wasn’t as phased, I wasn’t messing around. I knew I wanted to love life! I found support that met my needs, I created new friendships, and learned more. Things improved yet, still, I still struggled to “put it all together”.
I heard of Rythea Lee’s AFLB Facilitator Program and was so interested. I had so much self doubt, but after connecting briefly with Rythea, I knew I had to apply. I had an interview with Divinah, the co-facilitator of the training I went on to take, and was so inspired and excited to dive into this work.
The 10-week course with Rythea, Divinah, and 6 other participants was life changing. It was fun, heart warming, heart wrenching, and everything in between. Looking at our self hating voices in the group was so powerful; to be witnessed and to witness others; to examine and accept all our parts; was an experience like none I’ve ever had. I learned ways to love my self hating voice, and find my loving adult self and inner child.
I am so excited and honored to facilitate this work. I am excited because it felt so accessible. All the self-guided research I’d done over the years really clicked with the straight-forward concepts presented in the AFLB series. I found myself wishing I’d found this all when I was a teenager.
With the help of my loving support network outside the AFLB course, and the 10 week AFLB Facilitator Course, I feel so empowered to support others through this gutsy journey of exploring self-hatred, the loving adult self, and the inner child.
Thank you for reading,
Elizabeth Duffy
